World is Not as You Are

The work is built under a wedge-shaped space. Its walls blend into the surrounding environment. The work is accessible through a narrow corridor located in the middle of the piece. A mirror is placed in the end of the corridor. The installation, hidden inside the construction, is only visible through a reflection in the mirror. A video collage is played on the front wall.

The video collage consists of three clips, each taken from a different video, flipped around and ‘glued’ together with an editing program. It looks as if the block of ice is reflecting the flames and the sky is on fire.

The work opens up in a subtle manner from the middle of the front wall. Once inside, the viewer is facing a corridor leading to a mirror. The mirror is large and round, and posited in an angle against the wall in the corner. Access to the mirror is blocked by an obstacle placed on the floor. This way the viewer is able to observe the large-scale installation without a direct view to it from the doorway.
